PLLA threads performed by trained staff at our Vaughan/Maple location at Elysium Beauty Clinic, is a non-surgical procedure using sutures that are absorbed by the body over time, while also stimulating collagen production around the tissues where the sutures were placed. Thread lifts can be applied for those who wish to quickly deal with saggy and aged skin in a certain area while also providing the skin a more youthful appearance and helping build collagen without surgery and taking lots of downtime to recover.
Thread lifts are not limited to a specific area on the face but can be done in multiple spots where a client may express concern such as the brows (also known as Foxy Eyes), lower face jaw area, apple cheeks, neck, and the nose. To elaborate further on a few of these, the neck lift helps those with saggy skin, and using PLLA threads the practitioners will be able to create a visible lift of the skin providing a more youthful appearance and reducing the signs of aging. As for the nose lift, many turn to surgery for concerns but with that approach, there is always lots of downtime. While with a thread lift there is also a downtime period, it is nowhere near as long as surgery and can be as little as one to two weeks. With nose threading, a more linear appearance can be achieved for those who may be self-conscious about their nose and give it a slightly slimmed-down look. The bulbous tip can also be addressed with this procedure where its appearance is less prominent giving the nose a more defined look.
Precautions
It is important to note that there are some precautions to take before the procedure, including avoiding alcohol and smoking one day before the treatment. Ensure to avoid certain medications like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Vitamin E, and NSAIDS one day prior and no caffeine right before the procedure as these all can influence bleeding and increase the chance of bruising. If any of these have been recently taken it would be best to reschedule the thread lift to a different date to avoid any complications from arising. Additionally, not everyone is a candidate for this treatment which the practitioner will assess prior to performing the thread lift. For instance, someone not in an ideal weight range (too thin or overweight) would not qualify for this, or if there is lots of loose skin. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and those with blood-clotting disorders are not candidates for this procedure.
Downtime and aftercare
As with any injectable procedure, there will be a downtime period where some aftercare will have to be followed to speed up the healing process and avoid any complications from arising. One main thing that people are often surprised by is that makeup cannot be applied after the procedure and will need to be avoided for a day. At Elysium Beauty Clinic, we recommend extending that time to at least 2-3 days or even a week to prevent the risk of infection and allow the skin to breathe and heal as much as possible after the thread lift. Depending on the area where it was done, most thread lifts can last anywhere from 12-18 months after which, the procedure would have to be repeated as most of the threads will have been metabolized by this point.
